The new historical epic "Wanli Hero Chronicles" is officially published, chronicling the turbulent events of the late Ming Dynasty through tales of patriotism and chivalry.

Recently, the epic historical wuxia novel "Records of the Wuxia Shadow in Wanli" was officially published by United Publishing House. Written by renowned author Lu Guanhua, this new masterpiece features its first edition and initial print run completed in 2026 4, spans 370 thousand characters, and is printed in a 16 format. The book comprehensively depicts the grand historical tapestry intertwining court intrigues with martial chivalry during the Wanli era, adding a substantial new work to contemporary historical wuxia literature.

Author Lu Guanhua has an impressive background. Born in 1970 in Luanzhou, Hebei, he is a member of the Communist Party of China and holds a PhD from Queen's University Belfast. A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a member of writers' associations in both the UK and China, he began his career writing the wuxia novel *The Legend of Yongle: The Jinling Incident*. His interdisciplinary academic perspective and overseas experiences have enabled him to transcend traditional wuxia conventions by integrating meticulous Ming Dynasty historical research and cultural geography into his storytelling, forging a unique creative style.

"Legend of Wanli: The Hidden Hero" is rooted in the authentic historical backdrop of the late Ming Dynasty, with Emperor Wanxi's neglect of governance and factional strife within the imperial court as its narrative foundation. The story weaves together characters from various spheres: civil officials, the Eastern Depot (Dongchang) intelligence network, and diverse martial arts sects. After retiring from his post as Minister of Personnel, Lu Guangzu discovers a secret letter crucial to the nation's fate and entrusts it to constable Tang Qingyun for safe delivery. This journey becomes a thread connecting multiple plotlines—including pirate uprisings, conflicts in the Xiangxi martial world, and the Wulin Heroic Assembly in Yongping Prefecture. Along the way, the protagonist meets Jin Xiaohe, a shamaness, and Yuan Yuan, who travels tirelessly in search of her missing family. Sects such as Qingyin and Jiqu Yanrou make their appearances one after another, revealing that beneath the spectacle of martial arts dominance lies a web of hidden conspiracies orchestrated by powerful forces.

This work shatters the divide between court politics and the martial world, moving beyond traditional wuxia tropes of swordplay to deeply explore human choices in turbulent times. The heroes and heroines must balance their unwavering loyalty to their sect's code with a profound concern for the nation's fate, navigating the treacherous space between political intrigue and personal vendettas. Original lyrics, such as "Man Jiang Hong: Pipa Melody," are woven throughout the narrative, blending the harshness of battlefields, the sorrow of parting across mountains and seas, tender romance, and borderland warfare into a powerful tapestry that combines heroic spirit with delicate emotion, creating an immersive and atmospheric reading experience.

This book was produced by a distinguished team: Dong Manqiang oversaw the project, Song Huaizhi served as the editor-in-charge, and the cover portrait was designed by Icelandic artist Patrick Szwicky. It was professionally printed and bound by Langfang Haitao Printing Co., Ltd., and is distributed nationwide through Xinhua Bookstores via all sales channels. CIP data is fully registered (Approval No. 2026WU3473), ISBN 978-7-5234-2325-7, with an official price of 98 yuan.

Unlike fictional wuxia novels, "The Wuxia of Wanli" is grounded in meticulous Ming Dynasty historical records, balancing historical authenticity with literary readability. It delivers the passionate spirit of a world where justice prevails and grudges are settled, alongside a profound sense of duty to family and country. Whether you're a fan of historical literature or wuxia fiction, this book offers a vivid glimpse into the turbulent era of the Wanli Dynasty, revealing the unwavering principles and quiet compassion that define the hearts of heroes amidst chaos. The book is now available at major bookstores and online platforms for readers everywhere.
